DAVID PRASHKER: Asherah would also become Asher in the masculine, and the Asherim (or sometimes Asherot and Ashterot) were the sacred trees, effectively totem poles, used in her worship: the Cross, the Obelisk and the Christmas Tree are all variations of it.
it is logical to suggest that the tribe of Asher was defined precisely by its inclination to worship the goddess as Asherah, rather than under any of her other names; and that they were tribally connected to those other, more famous worshippers of Asherah - the Ashurim or Assyrians. In all probability these people, at an early stage of occupation, held sway over an area considerably larger than that defined by Yehoshu'a.

GEOFFREY DENNIS: Little is known about biblical witchcraft.
JILL HAMMER: Eating after Ritual is a common way to Ground.
JILL HAMMER: It also seems to me to imply that your life is still valuable. Even if you're gonna die tomorrow, it still matters to me that you're hungry. I find that really moving.
JILL HAMMER: This does feel like a Final Meal and she makes it a Big Meal.
JILL HAMMER: She doesn't say any comforting words. It doesn't make sense to try to comfort him, for such a terrible fate. She comforts him in the Body, really.
JILL HAMMER: She kind of alludes to, "You have a Big Journey to go on. You should eat something, before you do that" [biblehub.com/multi/1_samuel/28-21.htm]
JILL HAMMER: It's a kind of Hospice that she's doing for him. She's giving him nurturing at the end of his life. She knows the spirits have spoken. She's not trying to change it.

ARIELLE KAPLAN: 10. Never put a hat or shoes on your bedIf you toss a baseball cap, beanie, or fedora on your bed, those pesky evil spirits will target you. Likewise, never put shoes on your bed.

דוד לאו: In these days, where sadly we see the spread of a terrible disease, there can be no doubt one should not kiss mezuzot or even touch them. It is enough for a person to reflect on the verses written in the scroll when he enters or departs from a place and these thoughts will accompany him on his way.

JOSHUA TRACHTENBERG: The mezuzah, on the contrary, retained its original significance as an amulet despite rabbinic efforts to make it an exclusively religious symbol. Descended from a primitive charm, affixed to the door-post to keep demons out of the house, the rabbinic leaders gave it literally a religious content in the shape of a strip of parchment inscribed with the Biblical verses, Deut. 6:4-19, 11:13-20, in the hope that it might develop into a constant reminder of the principle of monotheism—a wise attempt to re-interpret instead of an unavailing prohibition.
ALEXANDER POLTORAK: A mezuzah affixed to the doorpost as commanded by G‑d at Sinai still has the power to "not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to smite you". Indeed, immediately after the commandment of mezuzah, the Torah continues
"...so that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children... (Deuteronomy XI, 21)"
This verse is the biblical source of the firm belief in the power of the mezuzah to protect from harm and to prolong one’s life.
BLU GREENBERG: A mezuzah serves two functions: Every time you enter or leave, the mezuzah reminds you that you have a covenant with God; second, the mezuzah serves as a symbol to everyone else that this particular dwelling is constituted as a Jewish household, operating by a special set of rules, rituals, and beliefs.

it is a sign of angels

JewishEncyclopedia: The right side, or right limb, of a person receives special prominence; the place of honor is at his right. "Upon thy right hand did stand the queen" (Ps. xlv. 9). Solomon placed a seat of honor for his mother, the queen, on his right side (I Kings ii. 19).
Etiquette commands that the most prominent person sit or walk in the center, the next in rank at his right hand, and the third in rank on the left ('Er. 54b).
SARA YOHEVED RIGLER: In Kabbalah, the right side stands for chesed, a free pouring-forth;
Chesed pours forth without restraint. Sometimes that's not the best way to give. Sometimes the one receiving requires more measured giving. For example, Albert Einstein teaching math to an eight-year-old would not help her by pouring forth everything he knows.

WIKIPEDIA: Many African cultures revere the African Elephant as a symbol of strength and power. It is also praised for its size, longevity, stamina, mental faculties, cooperative spirit, and loyalty.
Asian cultures admire the high intelligence and good memory of Asian elephants. As such, they symbolise wisdom and royal power. It is often considered sacred and symbolises royalty in Thailand and Burma, where it is also considered a symbol of good luck. The classical Sanskrit literature also attributes earthquakes to the shaking of their bodies when they tire.
The elephant as the symbol for the Republican Party of the United States originated in an 1874 political cartoon of an Asian elephant by Thomas Nast in Harper's Weekly.
- A woman was healed of her hemorrhage simply by touching the hem of Jesus’ cloak (Matthew 9:20-22).
- When handkerchiefs or aprons that had been touched to Paul were applied to the sick, the people were healed and evil spirits were driven out of them (Acts 19:11-12).
- When the corpse of a man was touched to the bones of the prophet Elisha the man came back to life and rose to his feet (2 Kings 13:20-21).

ERIC TOKAJER: In the Bible, when one says “In the name of,” it means according to the character, nature, or authority of.
For instance, when we pray for healing in Yeshua’s name, we do so because we know He has the authority to heal and that it is fully within His character and nature to heal. We know that because the Bible tells us what His promises are and that He has the authority to heal. So, when we pray in His name, we are trusting that because we know who and what He is, then He will do all that He promised to do. This is what we are taught in John 20:31 TLV:
"31 But these things have been written so that you may believe that Yeshua is Mashiach Ben-Elohim, and that by believing you may have life in His name."
Notice what brings life “in His name” is, believing that Yeshua is the Messiah The Son of G-D.
EVAN PYLE: The walk of the Spirit requires faith, not a spoken formula. I understand why people so want this spoken formula to be true and effective because it is so easy. However, replacing faith with a stock utterance smacks of superstition and reminds me of going to a medicine man or shaman to have an incantation uttered in hopes of achieving a success or victory of some kind.
Errant theology suggests we can achieve a quick fix by repeating a formula with conviction. Can you see that this is little more than superstition?
The gospel of grace declares that we are saved by grace through faith alone. Our response to God’s saving grace is not a set of spoken formulae but a “living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God...”
Indeed these matters of governing the Church well and protecting the integrity of the fellowship are serious business requiring much prayer, careful consideration and heavenly wisdom.
DAVID AZULAI: A red string bracelet is an invariable piece of clothing for every true kabbalist.
The closed circle symbolizes an unbreakable shield which the red string represents when it does not allow bad energies affect the body. It transforms, increases, or alleviates energy’s flow to provide required equilibrium. This helps support the immunity and vitality of the cells in our body and promote fast effective healing. There have been various occasions when a red string worn on a wrist restored health and balance of the mind, spirit and body of a human being.

REBECCA SPALDING: The tools, like gene therapy, to address diseases have evolved in the past 20 years, meaning the science is not necessarily the hurdle for some conditions, Kakkis said.
She's decided her only hope is to bypass the pharmaceutical industry and fund the research on a new gene therapy directly. But she needs cash.
“This is what’s so frustrating,” Freed said. “It’s truly a matter of money.” 💰
PATRICIA KARLIN-NEUMANN: Five words — 11 Hebrew letters — are all that Moses speaks (Numbers 12:13).
The essence of what we seek is still found in his direct and eternal prayer.
El na rfa na la.
In response to Moses’ prayer, God reveals the duration of Miriam’s exile to the wilderness of disease. Her fortunate loved ones have only to wait out a time of disequilibrium and uncertainty; they have received sacred reassurance that all will be well. Yet in anticipating her return, the Torah conveys a truth well known to the loved ones of someone contending with affliction and crisis — v’haam lo nasa ad heasef Miryam (“And the people did not march on until Miriam was readmitted,” Numbers 12:15).
Life does not go on with any sense of normalcy or progression while one whom we love is endangered; the caregiver’s attention and effort revolves around the one who is stricken. Time and space are altered. The yearning for healing expands to fill both.
It is not the entreaty of the one beset by the catastrophe, but rather that of the witness, the powerless onlooker, the potential caregiver absorbing the shock, the one who is overwhelmed and stymied about how to help.
For the caregiver, there is time only for truncated and hurried prayer, time only for stolen moments of naked cries and yearnings of hope. For the caregiver shouldering the burdens of action — making the loved one comfortable, researching treatment, running interference with physicians, reporting news, calming fears–prayer is a blessed moment of calm in an otherwise turbulent time.
So, too, the prayer of the caregiver is private, conspiratorial, hidden from the one who is the object of supplication, yet revealed to the One who can respond. We want to protect the one who is suffering from the compounded weight of the caregiver’s distress.
In the darkness, it is a relief to relinquish the weight of trying to hold up another’s spirits, and to acknowledge that someone with far more power than we possess is the ultimate caregiver.

HELEN INGRAM: Since the world-view that was active in the first centuries associated sickness with demonic influence, many healers considered it necessary to bind the demon responsible for an illness in order to bring about the cure. Therefore binding and loosing are both terms that were closely related to healing in the ancient world.
we can safely assume that the author of Luke intended healing to be understood as an exorcism.

Red Cloak: But, may I ask, what is the password for the House?Dr. William "Bill" Harford: "The password for the House."Red Cloak: Yes.Dr. William "Bill" Harford: I'm sorry. I seem to have forgotten it.Red Cloak: That's unfortunate because, here, it doesn't matter whether you "have forgotten it" or if you never knew it!

MINDWORKS TEAM: The Buddhist meditation bell is used today for a variety of reasons. They include:
To clear your space. A bell can create an atmosphere of purity and inspire deeper meditation. Some people believe that the sound of a meditation bell wards off negative energies.

"I commented on a Times of Israel article recently, typing: 'It all comes down to framing Messiah into [Y]our image or theirs. '
I think, that as Humanity's perception becomes more accurate ~ as a Visually~Impaired Generation gains its sight back ~ we may indeed witness His Second Coming, in great theatrical majesty and psychopomp, as well as White Steeds in tow!"
